Matthew West Writes A Song About This Women’s Unthinkable Act Of Forgiveness.

When I was 12 years old I lost a family member to an accident caused by a drunk driver. He was only 8 years old, lingered on life support and eventually died. Later while in high school a fellow classmate was killed. My cousin while driving his motorcycle after drinking died also. Those incidents left a trail of devastation, and horrible scars for everyone involved. The drivers lives are equally harmed, and forever changed as well as their families. It is a horrible fact that this is still happening so much.

When someone gets behind the wheel, and drives after a night of drinking it is one of the most reckless acts a person can do, and the consequences last a lifetime! I look back at their lives and wonder where would they be today they were beautiful people with so much potential. A sad thought that comes into my mind is a $20 cab ride could have prevented all that pain. These people drank more than that $20 during their night out but didn’t plan their way home. If only they had planned ahead!

When Renee Napier lost her daughter she was likewise devastated. God and only God can make beauty from our worst nightmares. He turned the situation around, and produced something positive out of it. God moved in her life to help her heal, and she forgave that drunk driver. When she forgave that man she set herself, and her family free. She started to do presentations educating people on the dangers, and consequences of drunk driving. She even interceded to have his sentence shortened so he could help her, and give him another chance at life. When Renee sent her story to Mathew West he was so inspired by her forgiveness he wrote this song. Watch as something wonderful happens in this video.

Mathew 6:15 “But if you do not forgive others their sins, your father will not forgive your sins.”
